The one where we built a fort

Hello everyone! After work this afternoon, I decided to take Lily to see the swan family living in the brook we live opposite. However, what I thought would be a lovely little visit, ended up in a huge tantrum because Lily wanted to climb into the brook and stroke the swans. Oops! When we got back inside, I needed to find a way to entertain and calm her, so I decided to make a fort. It isn't the most impressive fort you will have ever seen (some of the ones on pinterest are amazing!) but Lily absolutely loved it, and spent ages in there flicking through her books, cuddling her bunny and rag doll, giggling and playing peek-a-boo! She did take a quick break to take a very important phone call, but all in all I think she was pretty impressed. It made for a lovely afternoon activity, and I will definitely be doing it again! Maybe in my 6 weeks off work (school holidays! Yay!) I will build a slightly better one, and perhaps fill it with snacks and colouring in books as well as other toys and books.

Have you ever built a fort? What did you do in yours?

  1. This is so cute! So glad she enjoyed the fort <3 even I would love a little lounge in it!

  2. Gorgeous as always you two! Looks like such fun!
I'd loved making forts (or should I say still love) and even made one for my pup to have some shade when we were out enjoying the sun in the garden the other day! :) xo

  3. ahhh this fort is so perfect and dreamy! althought i did build forts as a child (i mean, who didn't?) i wasn't quite the princess-y type and so my forts were always battle or adventure forts with loads of cusion tunnels haha!

  4. I can never get over how cute Lily is. The fort is beautiful I bet she loved it.

  5. Awww, that's so cute. I'm new to your blog, but scarily enough, I built a fort/tent/den for my children on Friday afternoon and they absolutely adored it too. Definitely something I'll do again.

  6. Oh her dungarees and little tied up hair! Arrrrghhh too much adorable in one picture! I cannot handle it.
I love the fort and oh my goodness the Wedding is creeping up so quickly!

  7. This looks good fun and sooo pretty! Fairy lights, floral cushions= perfect!
(I love the part on the film 'The Holiday' with the 'tent' in the girls bedroom!)x

  8. Aw Lily is adorable! She has the same colour hair as me when I was little! That den looks lovely :)
